Freedom to travel, play and work without boundaries or prejudice. But ultimately sold an insular, utopian dream whilst painting misleading pictures of a big bad ogre. The 2016 UK referendum split the nation in ways more damaging than anyone could have predicted, causing wounds and division that in some cases may never be healed.
