There were many fatalities in an industry where propensity for accidents was high. I came across a book in which I found a list of casualties dated between 1827 and 1880. This is not intended to be a morbid rolecall of names - more a respectful and light hearted nod to those who lost their lives in sometimes bizarre cirumstances. And to those whose names will never be known.
